Ces trois-là se connaissent bien. Ils ont formé 11 ans durant la rythmique du 5tet « Renza-Bô », groupe avec lequel ils ont parcouru les plus grandes scènes de France, et d’autres en Europe.
Ils ont enregistré pas moins de 6 disques, dont plusieurs auréolés d’un « 4 étoiles » Jazzman/Jazzmag
Ce trio a aussi son identité propre, connue sous le nom de « Going East » trio. Les musiciens ont d’abord travaillé sur les compositions du compositeur hongrois Béla Bartok qu’ils interprètent et réarrangent librement, en y instillant une grande part d’improvisation. Et depuis, le répertoire s’est également enrichi de mélodies traditionnelles de pays des Balkans (Bulgarie, Serbia, Macedonia, etc..) as well as original compositions.
Saxophonist active in the world of contemporary Jazz, Olivier Py participates in adventures of noted groups like Dr Knock, Quinte & Sens, or the projects of Sarah Murcia (Caroline, Never Mind the Future). He also likes to rub shoulders with vocabularies and musical universes at the border of genres and with multiple influences..
In 2012, he composed a repertoire inspired by Olivier Messiaen’s bird song recordings and created the trio “Birds of Paradise”. THE 2 albums and concerts have been praised by critics and press (“Choc Jazzmagazine” for the 2nd opus “Black Fables”).
